ABSTRACT OF THE PRIVILEGE
The States of Holland having heard the good report, and taking into account the great expense of Printing of the BIBLE, have consented and patented, Aelbert Hendicxz. Bookprinter, to exclusively be allowed to print and sell, the BIBLE WITH DIVERGING VERSES, printed by him, or the like. Prohibiting all Printers, Booksellers, and further all the like, to print or cause to be printed the aforesaid BIBLE within the countries of Holland, nor to sell, cause to be sold or distribute, printed elsewhere, the aforesaid copied BIBLES, within the next two Years, without consent of the aforesaid Aelbert Hendicxz, on penalty of THE seizing of such printed BIBLES, and moreover on a fine of three Carolus guilders for each BIBLE, explained in more detail in the letters Patent. Done in the Hague, xxith May of the Year M.D. Lxxix.
