                        TASSA (RETAIL PRICE).

I, Juan Gallo de Andrada, clerk from the chamber of
the King, our Master, one of those who reside in his council,
certify and give faith that, having seen by the councillors
a book entitled, The ingenious gentleman of la Mancha,
composed by Miguel de Ceruantes Saauedra and fixed the
price of each sheet of that book on three marauedís and a
half. As the book has eighty three sheets, the total amount
is two hundred and ninety marauedis and a half, in which
the paper has to be sold, and licences were given
to be able to sell at this price. And they ordered for this
tassa (retail price) to be inserted at the beginning of the book,
and cannot be sold without it. And for it to be noted, I hereby
issue this document in Valladolid, 20 December 1604.
