      Circular

                        Varios profesores de música han hecho
                        presente a S.M. la Reina Gobernadora la ne-
                        cesidad de una disposición que ampare la propie
                        dad de las obras originales de su arte, las cuales
                         suelen, sin permiso de los autores, grabarse y re-
                        presentarse en los teatros; y considerando S. M. que
                        las producciones de esta clase merecen igual pro-
                        tección que las literarias por ser todas fruto de la
                        imaginación y del entendimiento, se ha servido
                        declarar que todas las disposiciones vijentes con
                        respecto a la impresión de los escritos son estensi-
                        vas al grabado de las composiciones de música;
                        mandando además que se observe en cuanto á
                         ellas lo prevenido en Reales órdenes de 5 de Mayo
                        de 1837, y de 8 de Abril último para la representación
                        de las piezas dramáticas: entendiéndose todo mien-
                        tras las Cortes aprueban el proyecto de lei que se
                         les presentara sobre la propiedad literaria y ar-
                        tística en sus diferentes partes. De Real órden
                         lo digo a VS para su inteligencia y efectos corres-
                        pondientes. Dios guarde a VS muchos años. Ma-
                        drid 9 de Mayo de 1839.
