      Nature and Scope
                  
                  
      Article 1.-For the purposes of this law,
      copyright shall cover scientific, literary, and
      artistic works which are capable of being published
      by any means whatsoever.
      
      Article 2.-Copyright belongs to:
      
      1. Authors in respect to their works.
      
      2. Translators in respect to their translations,
      if the original work is foreign and
      and it is not prohibited by international conventions,
      if the original work is Spanish and
      or has entered into the public domain or

                  Naturaleza y extension
                  
                  
            Artículo primero.-La propiedad in-
            telectual comprende, para los efectos
            de esta ley, las obras científicas, lite-
            rarias ó artísticas que pueden darse
            a luz por cualquier medio.
      
            Artículo segundo.-La propiedad
            intelectual corresponde:
      
            Primero: a los autores respecto de
            sus propias obras.
      
            Segundo: A los traductores respecto
            de sus traducciones, si la obra origi-
            nal es extrangera, y no lo impiden
            los convenios internacionales, ó si
            siendo espanola, ha pasado a
            dominio público ó se ha obtenido en
